I4safe Migration Hub

Overview
I4Safe Migration Hub is a one-stop migration hub and think-tank initiative by Initiatives for Safe Migration and Social Justice. The hub is committed to addressing and providing practical solutions to the complexities of migration through research, policy analysis, and strategic advocacy. Our goal is to be a center of excellence for knowledge production and dissemination on safe migration practices, while actively supporting survivors of human trafficking and irregular migration in Nigeria.

Mission
The project mission is to empower stakeholders with data-driven analysis and innovative solutions that promote safe migration and protect migrants’ rights. We are dedicated to providing vocational training for survivors of human trafficking and irregular migration, especially women and youth, to help them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.

Objectives
1. Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on migration trends, challenges, and opportunities, delivering actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders.
2. Policy Advocacy: Engage in advocacy efforts to shape migration policies at local, national, and international levels, ensuring the protection of migrants’ rights.
3. Vocational Training Programs: Provide skills development and vocational training to survivors of human trafficking, irregular migration, and forcibly displaced individuals, empowering them with the resources for sustainable livelihoods.
4. Crisis Response Services: Establish a hotline or crisis intervention services to assist individuals facing exploitation or modern-day slavery.
5. Knowledge Sharing: Disseminate research findings and best practices through publications, workshops, and forums, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.

Key Activities
Vocational Training Initiatives: Develop and deliver training programs in various fields, including tailoring, hospitality, solar installation, CCTV installation, phone repair, and digital skills. These programs are tailored to meet the needs and interests of survivors, helping them acquire employable skills.

Counseling and Psychological Support: Provide mental health services, including counseling and therapy, to assist victims in coping with trauma and rebuilding their lives.

Reintegration Programs: Create programs aimed at reintegrating survivors into their communities, which include job placement services, educational support, and ongoing mentorship.

Networking and Support Groups: Organize peer support groups and networks to allow victims to share their experiences, build resilience, and foster community support.

Research Projects: Conduct studies exploring various aspects of migration, including human trafficking, migration governance, and the impact of climate change on migration patterns.

Stakeholder Engagement: Organize workshops, roundtables, and conferences to bring together experts, policymakers, and community representatives to discuss migration issues and develop solutions.

Partnerships: Collaborate with academic institutions, governmental bodies, NGOs, and international organizations to amplify the impact of research and advocacy initiatives.
